Ziggy Liberated reborn as "Ziggy's Journey"

About a month ago I wrapped up my year-long project Ziggy Liberated, a sort of guided tour of the world of Ziggy. Ostensibly it was also fueled by philosophy, though it should be obvious to anybody who read the feature that I used it more as a way of getting more mileage out of a comic strip I've grown to appreciate. Ziggy (both the feature and the titular character) has an odd resonance, as well as some very peculiar events and writing. I've grown to quite like the feature, to the point where I'm proud to tout it as one of the finest features on the comics page (acknowledging, of course, that competition in that area has been pretty scarce since the mid-90s).

This is a sort of formal announcement that I've rebooted Ziggy Liberated as Ziggy's Journey, a stranger, more plot-driven feature that will give me a chance to explore some more metaphysical concepts. It seems unlikely that I'll be changing the URL for the feature, though I'll be updating the visual style of the site over the next few weeks. The archived year of Ziggy Liberated will remain online, naturally. I hope you enjoy - I know I will.

Ziggy Liberated Updates Begin Anew!

Well, classes have begun again, and the delays and breaks between classes have given me opportunity to continue Ziggy Liberated once more. It turns out that working on something that separates into easy chunks is the perfect medicine for studying ennui, and helps me get more done.

I've posted a few updates for now, and set a few more to gradually time-release over the next few days, like root beer losing its carbonation, except it's with jokes.

(And, yes, I always have and always will work on things that others like only for wholly selfish reasons.)

Miscellanei / Ziggy Liberated

Huh - I just noticed that Scientology is advertising on my blog through Google ads. I doubt they'd advertise if they'd read the blog's actual contents. Two ads which seem to fit a theme are the two for gay online dating and David Bowie album re-releases. They'll be putting up synchronized swimming banners before you know it. . .

Those of you who have been poking around in my profile have probably noticed Ziggy Liberated, my new year-long project. It's an attempt to divine enlightenment and joy from a source that most people aren't used to finding it - namely the comic strip "Ziggy." Sometimes on-topic, sometimes off, the blog's been a blast to right so far and is shaping up to become the most popular thing that I've ever written.

I've long-noticed the philosophical ramifications of the strip, but just now gotten around to starting this project after seeing a couple kickers. Of course, the blog also has its lighter moments, meaning that it's not complete despair and nihilism.

And as with Forest For the Trees, I'll be posting every day that I am able.
